CATANIA − The Turkish General Consulate in Sicily and Eumetra (“European and Mediterranean Traning Association”) are promoting a traveling exhibit of artworks realized through paper marbling, also known as “Ebru painting”, an ancient Turkish technique. The artist Kubilay Eralp Dinçer is well known all around the world for his paintings and, during these events, showed his working method and his technical skills to young art students in various high schools and art academies.
The exhibition will take place at Palazzo Platamonte, in Catania, from 5th to 13th of May. The inaguartion will be preceded by a conference, held by professor Michele Romano, professor Ornella Fazzina and professor Ornella Spina, to show Dinçer’s technique projecting photos and videos of the artist in action.
This is the first exhibit of its kind in Sicily and southern Italy. Dinçer’s artworks have already been displayed in Siracusa (8th/15th of April) and in Ragusa Ibla (18th/26th of April) and will be exhibited in Noto (14th/20th of May), Palermo, Riposto and Taormina as well.
The aim is to spread and promote this special technique among the prestigious institutes of the places where the exhibitions are held. To do so, the schools involved in the project are undertaking agreements with the Turkish Consulate to establish courses of Ebru painting in Sicily and to allow Sicilian art students to attend courses and workshops in Turkey.
